creating the magazine to give Christian tone to family living—our ministry will
be completed.
There are other services which this Department can render. We list them
here as goals toward which we strive, as objectives for our prayers. The new
magazine is named again, so as to give a comprehensive listing of the work our
hearts would move us to do.
1. HOME, a magazine for family guidance such as we plan to publish,
beginning in January, 1947
2. Textbooks in the home field for Sunday School and Training Union study
courses
3. General reading books on family living
4. Radio broadcasts of family worship programs
5. Motion pictures prepared for home use, which would have entertainment,
cultural, and guidance values
6. Publication of pamphlets and tracts
7. Enlisting Baptist colleges to add to their curricula courses on planning
for marriage and the home
8. Feature articles in the denominational papers dealing with pointed problems
in family living
9. Enlistment of all church organizations in an integrated promotion of
Christian family living through the circulation of materials now available,
and the larger list of materials which we hope to make available
Brethren, this is a needy work. Much can and should be done. With your
help and God's grace, we will do our best.
BOOK EDITORIAL DEPARTMENT

The work of this department continues to be seriously handicapped by shortage
of paper. True, priorities and restrictions have been lifted; but this only
means that we are free to get paper if we can. Of course, dealers are swamped
with back orders and we can only take our turn. We are grateful that we continue
to be able to supply reprints of books required in our regular work and of
those for which there is strong popular demand. We are making progress in
the new field which we have entered during the year, and under the leadership
of Mrs. Clifton J. Allen, editor of children's books, we shall soon have some
attractive volumes for our little people.
Our authors are uniformly patient and sympathetic, for which we are grateful.
