____ Differs from the species in its glossier green leaves, compactergrowing
habit and the striking green winter colours; discovered
by JÜRGL, Sürth. An especially hardy, valuable improvement;
was awarded „Very Good“ during the federal cultivar trials in
Germany in 1987. B, R, Z. Zone 6b.
pileata ´Moss Green´ - Privet Honeysuckle ´Moss Green´
____ A selection from Holland with striking shiny leaves, and a lowlying,
spreading habit - a new cultivar good as ground cover; a
hardier cultivar. B, R, Z. Zone 6a.
purpusii (= L. fragrantissima x L. standishii) -
____ A semi-evergreen, densely-branched shrub, 2 to 3 m tall, with
broad, overhanging branches; leaves ovate to elliptic, 5 to 10 cm
long; flowers 2 to 4 in clusters, creamy white, strongly fragrant,
appearing from December to April; fruits red - originated from
the botanical garden of Darmstadt, Germany; an extraordinary,
winter-flowering plant. K, S. Zone 6b.

____ A cultivar that originated in Arnold Arboretum with broad, upright-growing
habit; flowers large, about 2.5 cm wide, dark red,
the most intensive colour tone of the species; fruits deep red
- the flowers and fruits appear already on 1-year old shoots. D,
H, R, St. Zone 3.
tatarica ´Hacks Red´ - Tartarian Honeysuckle ´Hacks Red´
____ A cultivar originated in Canada with a sturdy growth; petals are
slightly twisted, purplish-pink - an undemanding, improved cultivar
of the species with striking flowers. D, H, R, St. Zone 3.
