horizontalis - Herring Bone Cotoneaster<br />
____ A commonly used shrub, hardly over 40 cm tall, though much<br />
broader due to its horizontal growing sprigs arranged in double<br />
rows; leaves dark green and shiny turning scarlet red in autumn;<br />
flowers rosy red appearing in May/June; fruits are abundant, red<br />
and adhere long through the season - a well-known and versatile<br />
shrub, especially lovely on sunny house walls; was awarded<br />
„Very Good“ in 1986 during the federal cultivar trials in Germany.<br />

microphyllus ´Queen of Carpets´ - Many Flowered Cotoneaster<br />
____ An improvement on ´Streibs Findling´ with larger leaves and faster<br />
growth - very good as ground cover for large surfaces and<br />

multifl orus (= C. refl exa) - Many Flowered Cotoneaster<br />
____ A deciduous, upright-growing shrub, 3 to 4 m tall; shoots are<br />
slender, broadly-arched and overhanging; flowers are abundant,<br />
white, appearing in early June, borne in upright umbells; abundant,<br />
red fruits in August/September - a striking flowering and<br />
fruit-bearing shrub. D, H, S. Zone 5b.<br />
praecox - Praecox Cotonester<br />
____ A deciduous shrub, up to 50 cm tall; shoots up to 1 m arching<br />
or creeping, leaves oval, dark green, with wavy edges, turning<br />
red in autumn; fruits are very large, red, appearing in August - a<br />
dwarf shrub suitable for rock gardens or for planting in troughs or<br />
on graves; was awarded „Very Good“ in 1986 during the federal<br />
cultivar trials in Germany. B, K, St, Z. Zone 5b.<br />

____ A slower-growing selection with shoots that grow erect rather<br />

____ An especially elegant, evergreen shrub, 2 to 3 m tall with a<br />
broad, funnel-like habit; shoots grow wide and picturesquely<br />
overhanging; leaves narrow and lanceolate; flowers borne in<br />
wide umbellical panicles; fruits are red, abundant and adhere<br />
long through the season - a much sought-after specimen plant.<br />
