____ A dense, broad and bushy-growing shrub, about 0.8 to 1 m tall;
leaves dark green, strong dark bronze-red at leaf break; flowers
dark lilac-red, borne in large, terminal, corymbs from June to
August - especially suitable for low-flowering hedges and mass
planting. was awarded „Good-Very Good“ in 2000 during the federal
cultivar trials in Germany. B, H, R, Z. Zone 5a.
cantoniensis ´Lanceata´ - Spiraea NEW!
____ An up to 1.5 tall shrub with compact growth and overhanging
branches; leaves lanceolate, bluish green, whose colour remains
true till late autumn; flowers double, snow-white, numerous, appearing
from April till May. A gorgeous cultivar originating from
China and Japan. B, H, R, Z. Zone 5b.
cinerea ´Grefsheim´ (= S. arguta ´Grefsheim´, ´Graciosa´) -
____ About 1.5 to 2 m tall, dense and bushy shrub with elegant and
delicately overhanging shoots; leaves very fine, lanceolate, dull
green; flowers snow-white, in 5 cm corymbs, appearing in April,
somewhat 10 days earlier than S. x arguta - a hardy cultivar, the
most important spiraea for hedges at the moment, excellent for
free-growing, flowering hedges. H, S. Zone 5a.
decumbens - White Lace Spirea
____ Up to 25 cm tall dwarf shrub, producing suckers, with slender,
ascending shoots; flowers white, appearing in June - a free-flowering
cultivar, lovely for low hedges and rock gardens; especially
valuable as ground cover and an excellent plant for mass planting,
since it is tolerant to pruning and due to its suckers. B, H,
R, Z. Zone 4.
densifl ora - Subalpine Spiraea NEW!
____ A small, up to 80 cm tall, compact-growing shrub with dark bronze-red
shoots; leaves elliptic, with rather rounded leaf apices,
are either curly or serrated from middle to apex; flowers pink,
appearing in June/July in corymbs - a striking, hardy cultivar with
lovely autumn colours, robust foliage and gaining increasing popularity
as a ground cover plant. B, H, Z. Zone 4.
