THUJA (Continued)
occidentalis ´Lori´¥ -
____ Having similar growing habit as T. occidentalis; retains its light
green foliage even throughout winter; undemanding, fine-growing
selection that tolerates pruning, selected by LOHMANN +
RICHTER of Stuttgart - an excellent thuja for hedging, with a
very promising future due to its green winter colours. H, R, S,
St. Zone 5a.
occidentalis ´Malonyana´ (= T. occidentalis var. pyramidalis f. malonyana) -
____ A very narrow, columnar-growing cultivar from Slovakia, with a
pointed top, remains green even in winter, growing only 50 to 60
cm across when 10 to 15 m tall, very densely branched; shiny
dark green foliage - a very valuable and hardy plant for hedges
for tall and slender walls. H, R, S, St. Zone 5a.
occidentalis ´Malonyana Aurea´ - NEW!
____ Slim growth, compact, upright and pillar-like (as Malonyana),
though with bright yellow needle-like leaves. A rare, slim cultivar
with a column form, yet with the best yellow foliage, withstands
sunburns and is especially winter hardy. H, R, S, St. Zone 5a.
occidentalis ´Mecki´ -
____ Our own selection, slow-growing, with stocky, evenly rounded
growth and very healthy, fresh green foliage - ideal for low
hedges, cemeteries, rock gardens, for planting in troughs and
as an alternattive to Buxus. H, R, St, Z. Zone 6a.
occidentalis ´Rheingold´ -
____ Up to 1.5 m tall, cone-shaped, and growing very attractively;
bronze-coloured at shoot break, turning light yellow later; leaves
either scale-shaped or needle-like - a very charming cultivar in
form and shape, suitable for light shady positions. R, St. Zone
6a.
