biloba - Ginkgo, Maidenhair Tree
____ A large, 20 to 30 m tall, deciduous tree with varied growing habit;
the crown can be narrowly cone-shaped, or on the other hand,
broadly spreading; leaves fan-shaped, almost leathery, 5 to 8
cm across, turn bright golden yellow in autumn - an effective,
very adaptable park and street tree, tolerates sunny or shady,
warm or cold positions, tolerant to industrial pollution and excellent
for planting in central city areas. D, R, S, St. Zone 5b.
biloba ´Mariken´ - Ginkgo NEW!
____ A rather globose dwarf form due to its compact internodes and
well-branching growth. Leaves are large and shoots thick. Can
result to a lovely, compact and globose cultivar with occasional
corrective pruning; very popular for trough-plantings, for the balcony
and small gardens as well as for the cemetery. D, R, S,
St, Z. Zone 5b.
biloba ´Tremonia´ -
____ Strictly columnar-growing with lovely autumn colours; originated
in the botanical gardens in Dortmund, Germany; the mother
plant was about 12 m tall and 80 cm wide at the time of naming.
