____ A broad and low-growing shrub with multiple shoots; leaves
rather large, 5- to 7-pinnate, shiny, autumn, winter leaves and
shoot break bronze in colour; flowers numerous, in very large,
loosely, panicle-like racemes, deep yellow, appearing in April/
May - an especially valuable mahonia. B, H, R, St, Z. Zone 5b.
aquifolium ´Maqu´ - Oregon Grape ´Maqu´ NEW!
____ A DAFO-cultivar from Denmark with a sturdy and upright growth
up to 1 m tall; foliage is shiny dark green, turning bronze in
winter, young shoots are reddish; inflorescence upright, dark
yellow; fruits dark blue. A healthy and robust cultivar with regular
growth, and especially suitable for mass planting. B, H, R, St,
Z. Zone 5b.

____ Up to 0.8 m tall shrub, wide-growing, producing runners. Pinnate
leaves about 20 cm long, with up to 7 narrow, slightly
wavy, toothed and thorny leaflets, glossy dark green, turning
dark purplish-brown in winter. Flowers canary-yellow, borne in
a wide, spherical inflorescence. Fruits round, dove-blue when
ripe, producing a dark red juice with lemon-like taste. A selected
cultivar of M. aquifolium x M. repens from the nursery of H.-J.
ALBRECHT, Berlin. A healthy, winter hardy cultivar, resistant
to mildew. A cultivar that should receive more attention. B, H,

glossy emerald-green, retaining its colour even in winter; flowers
