____ A slow-growing, densely branched shrub, hardly over 2 m tall<br />

and wide; leaves 3 to 6 cm long, dark bronze-red, glossy above,<br />

leaves on young shoots are light red; flowers white, appearing<br />

in May; fruits dark crimson, edible - excellent for clipped or freegrowing<br />

hedges. R, St. Zone 4.<br />

glandulosa ´Alboplena´ -<br />

____ A small, upright-growing shrub, up to 1.5 m tall with mainly slight<br />

overhanging shoots; leaves long, shiny dark green, turning pinkish<br />

in autumn; flowers white, densely double; fruits blackish -<br />

suitable either as a specimen or for planting in groups, equally<br />

suitable for forcing. K, S. Zone 5a.<br />

incisa ´Kojou-no-mai´ - Fuji-Cherry NEW!<br />

____ A charming dwarf cherry with dense branching, broad and upright<br />

growth pattern, up to 1 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Fine shoots,<br />

twisted and bending in a zigzag manner. Leaves about 2 cm<br />

in length, long tips, yellow-green at first, turning mid-green<br />

with bluish green underside and bright orange-red in autumn.<br />

Flowers rosy red as buds, pink to pinkish white when blooming,<br />

pendant, appearing in March to April. A filigree-like, free-flowering<br />

small shrub – an impetus to purchase in spring due to its<br />

flowers, equally interesting without its foliage; suitable for plant<br />

containers, rock gardens, small planting areas and hedges, or<br />

as bonsais. H, K, Z. St. Zone 6b.<br />

kurilensis ´Brillant´ -<br />

____ A lovely, very slow-growing cultivar; flowers pink as buds, later<br />

white, somewhat larger than the species, flowering even as a<br />

young plant - an excellent flowering woody plant for small gardens,<br />

planting containers etc. - was brought into the trade by<br />

H.-J. ALBRECHT, Berlin, in 1977. K, S. Zone 5a.<br />

kurilensis ´Ruby´ -<br />

____ A slow-growing cultivar with striking carmine autumn colours;<br />

flowers appear somewhat later, lilac-pink, turning lighter-coloured<br />
