c e s Assign a static route to <strong>the</strong> switch.<br />

Syntax ip route destination mask {ip-address | interface [ip-address]} [distance]<br />

[permanent] [tag tag-value]<br />

Parameters<br />

Note: This command is not supported on default VLAN (default vlan-id command).<br />

To delete a specific static route, use <strong>the</strong> no ip route destination mask {address |<br />

interface [ip-address]} command.<br />

To delete all routes matching a certain route, use <strong>the</strong> no ip route destination mask<br />

command.<br />

destination Enter <strong>the</strong> IP address in dotted decimal <strong>for</strong>mat of <strong>the</strong> destination device.<br />

mask Enter <strong>the</strong> mask in slash prefix <strong>for</strong>mation (/x) of <strong>the</strong> destination device’s IP<br />

address.<br />

ip-address Enter <strong>the</strong> IP address in dotted decimal <strong>for</strong>mat of <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>warding router.<br />

interface Enter <strong>the</strong> following keywords and slot/port or number in<strong>for</strong>mation:<br />

• For a 1-Gigabit E<strong>the</strong>rnet interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword GigabitE<strong>the</strong>rnet<br />

followed by <strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a loopback interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword loopback followed by a<br />

number from zero (0) to 16383.<br />

• For <strong>the</strong> null interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword null followed by zero (0).<br />

• For a Port Channel interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword port-channel followed<br />

by a number:<br />

C-<strong>Series</strong> and S-<strong>Series</strong> Range: 1-128<br />

E-<strong>Series</strong> Range: 1 to 32 <strong>for</strong> E<strong>the</strong>rScale, 1 to 255 <strong>for</strong> TeraScale.<br />

• For a SONET interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword sonet followed by <strong>the</strong> sonet<br />

followed by <strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a 10-Gigabit E<strong>the</strong>rnet interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

TenGigabitE<strong>the</strong>rnet followed by <strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a VLAN, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword vlan followed by a number from 1 to 4094.<br />

distance (OPTIONAL) Enter a number as <strong>the</strong> distance metric assigned to <strong>the</strong> route.<br />

Range: 1 to 255<br />

permanent (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword permanent to specify <strong>the</strong> route is not<br />

removed, even if <strong>the</strong> interface assigned to that route goes down. The route must<br />

be up initially to install it in <strong>the</strong> routing table.<br />

If you disable <strong>the</strong> interface with an IP address associated with <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

permanent, <strong>the</strong> route disappears from <strong>the</strong> routing table.<br />

tag tag-value (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword tag followed by a number to assign to <strong>the</strong><br />

route.<br />

Range: 1 to 4294967295<br />
