network area<br />

To disable an OSPF area, use <strong>the</strong> no network ip-address mask area area-id command.<br />

ip-address Specify a primary or secondary address in dotted decimal <strong>for</strong>mat. The primary<br />

address is required be<strong>for</strong>e adding <strong>the</strong> secondary address.<br />

mask Enter a network mask in /prefix <strong>for</strong>mat. (/x)<br />

area-id Enter <strong>the</strong> OSPF area ID as ei<strong>the</strong>r a decimal value or in a valid IP address.<br />

Decimal value range: 0 to 65535<br />

IP address <strong>for</strong>mat: dotted decimal <strong>for</strong>mat A.B.C.D.<br />

Note: If <strong>the</strong> area ID is smaller than 65535, it will be converted to a decimal<br />

value. For example, if you use an area ID of 0.0.0.1, it will be converted to 1.<br />

To enable OSPF on an interface, <strong>the</strong> network area command must include, in its range of<br />

addresses, <strong>the</strong> primary IP address of an interface.<br />

Note: An interface can be attached only to a single OSPF area.<br />

If you delete all <strong>the</strong> network area commands <strong>for</strong> Area 0, <strong>the</strong> show ip ospf command output<br />

will not list Area 0.<br />

passive-interface<br />

c e s Suppress both receiving and sending routing updates on an interface.<br />

Syntax passive-interface {default | interface}<br />

To enable both <strong>the</strong> receiving and sending routing, enter <strong>the</strong> no passive-interface interface<br />

command.<br />

To return all OSPF interfaces (current and future) to active, enter <strong>the</strong> no passive-interface<br />

default command.<br />
