SPANNING TREE Mode Use the protocol spanning-tree command to enter the STP mode and enable and configure Spanning Tree protocol. To enter STP mode: 1. Verify that you are logged into the CONFIGURATION mode. 2. Enter the protocol spanning-tree stp-id command. You can return to the CONFIGURATION mode by entering the exit command. Per-VLAN SPANNING TREE Plus Mode Use the protocol spanning-tree command to enter the PVST+ mode and enable and configure Per-VLAN Spanning Tree protocol. Note: The protocol is PVST+, however the plus sign is dropped at the command line prompt. To enter PVST+ mode: 1. Verify that you are logged into the CONFIGURATION mode. 2. Enter the protocol spanning-tree pvst command. You can return to the CONFIGURATION mode by entering the exit command. RAPID SPANNING TREE Mode Use the protocol spanning-tree command to enter the RSTP mode and enable and configure the Rapid Spanning Tree protocol. To enter RSTP mode: 1. Verify that you are logged into the CONFIGURATION mode. 2. Enter the protocol spanning-tree rstp command. You can return to the CONFIGURATION mode by entering the exit command. MULTIPLE SPANNING TREE Mode Use the protocol spanning-tree mstp command to enter the MULTIPLE SPANNING TREE mode and enable and configure Multiple Spanning Tree protocol.
