SPANNING TREE Mode<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree command to enter <strong>the</strong> STP mode and enable and configure<br />

Spanning Tree protocol.<br />

To enter STP mode:<br />

1. Verify that you are logged into <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

2. Enter <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree stp-id command.<br />

You can return to <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode by entering <strong>the</strong> exit command.<br />

Per-VLAN SPANNING TREE Plus Mode<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree command to enter <strong>the</strong> PVST+ mode and enable and configure<br />

Per-VLAN Spanning Tree protocol.<br />

Note: The protocol is PVST+, however <strong>the</strong> plus sign is dropped at <strong>the</strong> command line prompt.<br />

To enter PVST+ mode:<br />

1. Verify that you are logged into <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

2. Enter <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree pvst command.<br />

You can return to <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode by entering <strong>the</strong> exit command.<br />

RAPID SPANNING TREE Mode<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree command to enter <strong>the</strong> RSTP mode and enable and configure<br />

<strong>the</strong> Rapid Spanning Tree protocol.<br />

To enter RSTP mode:<br />

1. Verify that you are logged into <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

2. Enter <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree rstp command.<br />

You can return to <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode by entering <strong>the</strong> exit command.<br />

MULTIPLE SPANNING TREE Mode<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> protocol spanning-tree mstp command to enter <strong>the</strong> MULTIPLE SPANNING TREE<br />

mode and enable and configure Multiple Spanning Tree protocol.<br />
