In the Festival Overture (1939), it can be heard prominently in the
opening bars, where it comprises a movement in parallel fourths:
Ex.28: Festival Overture, bars 4-5.
A logical step from this, is to combine the parallel movement of both
thirds and fourths to form parallel triads, with all three lines remaining
within a diatonic texture. Allegro (1942) and Song of the Antipodes
(1946) provide good examples of this:
Ex.29: Allegro for strings, bars 114-5.
