(B) Cap on Benefits: Employees are encouraged to use all earned Personal<br />

Days each year. The maximum benefits an hourly employee may have at any<br />

time shall equal two years' accumulated Personal Days, at lhe employee's<br />

current annual Personal Days accrual rate.<br />

The maximum benefits an exempt employee may have at any time shall equal for<br />

exempt employees with less than 3 years service 80.08 hours; and for exempt<br />

employees witl1 more than 3 years service 160 hours.<br />

If an employee's earned but unused Personal Day accrual reaches the<br />

maximum, the employee will not accrue any additional benefits. If the employee<br />

later uses enough <strong>of</strong> their Personal Days to fall below lhe maximum, slhe will<br />

resume earning Personal Days from that date forward. In such a ease,-no<br />

benefits will be earned for the period in which {h'e employee's benefits were at<br />

the maximum.<br />

(e) Using Personal Days: Requests for Personal Days should be submitted in<br />

writing at least two weeks in advance to the supervisor. When possible,<br />

Personal Days are granted, taking into account operating requirements. Personal<br />

Days must be taken in increments <strong>of</strong> no less than a day, except in cases <strong>of</strong><br />

illness or injury as described below, or by specific approval <strong>of</strong> your supervisor. A<br />

day is equal to the hours the employee is regularly scheduled to work, and in no<br />

case are overtime hours considered hours for which an employee is regularly<br />

scheduled. Length <strong>of</strong> employment may determine priority in scheduling Personal<br />

Days. The company may schedule an employee's Personal Days if the employee<br />

fails to schedule Personal Days with the supervisor or if the company deems<br />

such action appropriate. Employees may not receiVe pay in lieu <strong>of</strong> taking<br />

Personal Days, except on termination <strong>of</strong> employment.<br />

(0) Use <strong>of</strong> Personal Days for IIInessllnjury/Emergency: Personal Days are<br />

available for employees to use when the employee is ill or injured or has an<br />

emergency. Employees who are l!nable to report to work due to personal illness,<br />

injury· or emergency must contact their supervisor as soon as possible and no<br />

later than one hour prior to the employee's normal starting time. Failure to follow<br />

these procedure~ will result in treatment <strong>of</strong> the day as an unexcused absence<br />

and can result in disciplinary action as well.<br />

An hourly employee who becomes ill, injured or has an emergency during the<br />

work day such that slile must leave work, must use any accrued Personal Day<br />

hours for the hours <strong>of</strong> scheduled work missed. The employee shall not be<br />

permitted to return to work until the following workday, unless the employee has<br />

the permission <strong>of</strong> the supervisor. Employees who are absent for longer than<br />
