Re: G & S Transit - Vehicle Replacement Program
Dear Mr. Baghdanian:
This letter shaH serve to outline our taxicab replacement program for the 15 vehicles currenlly
operating ill the City of Glendale.
G & S Transit is ded icated to providing the cities in which we oj)crate with "grccll" vehicles
(CNG, Propane, or hybrid). As yOll are aware, the taxicab drivers own their vehicles. They are
wil1ing to replace their taxicabs with clean air vehicles, however wanted to p\l1"chase eNG duc to
the high cost of hybrid vehicles. Over the last couple of years, Ford slopped manufacturing CNG
cars and the cost of rctrofitiing WCiS prohibitive. We have put an intemal program in place, and
the drivers are aware that it will be mandatory that any rep lacement vehicle is a clean fuel
vehicle, ancll hey agree with this direction.
Additionally, we have seell an increase in the need for regular and wheelchair accessible
minivans (specialty vehicles) to service the City. Therefore, \ve IUlVe inco rporated additional
vails in our replacement program.
The following is the schedule of vehicles which will be put into servicc replacing existing
vehicles:
2010 - 2 minivans
201 1 - I wheelchair van and 1 clean fuel vehicle
2012 - t minivan and 3 clean fuel vehicles
2013 - I clean fuel vehicle
2014 - 5 clean fw!1 vehicle
2015 - 1 clean fucl vehicle
