The on duty supervisor will review each PTIG to note if the driver reported a defect. The on duty<br />

supervisor will determine if the defect is safety related and must be corrected immediately or if it<br />

may be postponed until the next scheduled preventive<br />

maintenance service day.<br />

If the defect is to be repaired immediately, the on duty<br />

supervisor will prepare a Vehicle Repair Order or Shop<br />

Work Order form, list the noted defect and assign the<br />

repair to a mechanic for completion. Tlie mechanic is<br />

responsible for all signs-<strong>of</strong>f on the Shop Work Order<br />

form. The PTle form is attached to the repair order<br />

and kept with the file.<br />

The information on the PTIC shall be accurate<br />

including: date, description <strong>of</strong> work done, labor hours,<br />

drivers name or clock number, mileage <strong>of</strong> vehicle at<br />

time <strong>of</strong> repairs and parts utilized for such repairs. The<br />

parts section on the work order shall include: quantity,<br />

part description, unit costs and other charges.<br />

G&S places a high priority on pre-trip inspections. The maintenance supervisor and General<br />

Manger periodically check to ensure that drivers are properly performing this inspection function .<br />

Routine Procedures<br />

In order to ensure that proper maintenance is completed, the following procedures are conducted<br />

routinely:<br />

Cleaning<br />

Daily cleaning will consist <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />

1. Clean inside <strong>of</strong> all windows, removing all dust, fingerprints and head prints;<br />

2. Remove all dust from seats. dashboards, wheel wells, rails and ledges;<br />

3. Sweep or vacuum all floor areas; mop or clean all liquid spills;<br />

4. Vehicle must be free <strong>of</strong> all paper and debris;<br />

5. Repair all damaged seats; and,<br />

6. Remove graffiti.<br />

Vehicles are subject to spot checks for cleanliness by the on-duty supervisor.<br />

Tire Pressure<br />

In order to maximize tire life and to provide an additional safety check, tire inflation is checked by<br />

the driver or maintenance person at least once per week. Improper inflation pressures are corrected<br />

immediately. In addition, tires will be checked daily for sufficient tread and obvious wear.<br />

Body Damage<br />

Both the driver (daily with the pre-trip inspection) and the maintenance person are required to<br />

identify body damage. If body damage is due to an accident, an accident report and repair form is<br />

also completed.<br />
