BEREAVEMENT<br />

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 35 or more hours per week and<br />

have completed the three month introduclory period are eligible for Iwo days <strong>of</strong>f<br />

with pay. for the death <strong>of</strong> an immediate family member. A day is equal to the<br />

hours the employee is regularly scheduled to work per service day, and overtime<br />

hours are not considered regulqrly scheduled hours for any classification <strong>of</strong><br />

employee. Pay will not be given for days on which the employee was not<br />

scheduled to work. For purposes <strong>of</strong> this policy, an employee's immediate family<br />

is defined to include the current spouse or domestic partner, father, mother,<br />

sister, brother, child, grandparents, and grandchildren. If an employee requires<br />

more than the days allowed, the employee may request a personal leave <strong>of</strong><br />

absence for additional time <strong>of</strong>f. If the employee has accrued Personal Days<br />

these days must be used before reverting to unpaid time <strong>of</strong>f.<br />

Requests for bereavement leave should be made to an employee's immediate<br />

supelVisor as soon as possible. The company reserves the right ~o request<br />

satisfactory evidence to support a claim for bereavement leave.<br />

On-call and training employees are ineligible for paid bereavement leave.<br />

SCIIOOL VISITATION<br />

If required to appear for a school conference, an employee who is the parent or<br />

guardian <strong>of</strong> a child who is suspended may take time <strong>of</strong>f without pay if they<br />

provide reasonable advance notice to their supervisor <strong>of</strong> the heed for time <strong>of</strong>f.<br />

SCHOOL ACTIVITlES PARTICIPATION<br />

Under certain circumstances, eligible employees may be entitled to take lime <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to participate in activities <strong>of</strong> their chi ld's school. In order to be eligible for time <strong>of</strong>f<br />

under this policy, an employee must be the parent, guardian, or grandparent <strong>of</strong> a<br />

child who is in kindergarten or a grade between one and 12, inclusive, or a ch ild<br />

who is enrolled in licensed day care. The employee must provide reasonable<br />

notice <strong>of</strong> the planned absence to the supervisor before taking time <strong>of</strong>f. The<br />

employe~ may not take more than 40 Ilours <strong>of</strong>f for this purpose in any single<br />

school year or more than 8 hours <strong>of</strong>f in any ca lendar month <strong>of</strong> the school year.<br />

If both parents <strong>of</strong> a child are employed by the employer at the same work site,<br />

only one parent may take time <strong>of</strong>f at a time under this policy. The parent who<br />

first gives appropriate notice <strong>of</strong> the need for time <strong>of</strong>f under this policy will have<br />

preference. In some cases the supervisor or Human Resources representative<br />
