If the employee on the third working day prior to the day <strong>of</strong> electioD,<br />
knows Of has reason to believe that time <strong>of</strong>f will be necessary to be able to<br />
vote on election day. the employee shall give the employer at least two<br />
working daysl notice that time <strong>of</strong>f for voting is desired, in accordance with<br />
thjs section.<br />
MILITARY LEAVE<br />
Military leaves <strong>of</strong> absence are granted in accordance with state and federal law,<br />
and without pay. However, exempt employees who work any part <strong>of</strong> a work week<br />
while on temporary military leave. will receive the full week pay, minus any pay<br />
for· the military service. In order to be eligible, employees must submit written<br />
verification from the appropriate military authority as early as possible before a<br />
departure.<br />
Accrued Personal Days must be used for this leave. An employee must notify<br />
their supervisor <strong>of</strong> intent to return to employment within 90 days after release<br />
from active duty or within such extended period, if any, as their rights are<br />
protected by law.<br />
VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER LEAVE<br />
Employees who are volunteer firefighters are given the necessary unpaid time <strong>of</strong>f<br />
to respond to an emergency situation. Employees must provide a written<br />
statement from their fire chief stating that the absence was due to fire<br />
emergency.<br />
WITNESS LEAVE<br />
Employees who are required by law to appear in court or at another legal<br />
proceeding will be provided time <strong>of</strong>f for that purpose. Deductions will not be<br />
made from the salary <strong>of</strong> an exempt employee for absences caused by<br />
aUendance as a witness. Nonexempt employees will not be compensated for<br />
time <strong>of</strong>f-to serve as a witness.<br />
