preparedness and training in manual methods. Finally, for the worst case scenario, copies of critical
software and databases are maintained off-site in addition to the o"n-5ite backups. The company
maintains backups to electrical power, both generator and UPS (battery). Moreover, G&S
participates in area disaster relief plans using GPS the company assists with emergency
evacuation.
In the following sections we will describe components of the technology architecture for dispatching
and communication, components critical to service delivery. There is, however, more to the
technology plan than these components. Very important to taxicab drivers and office staff are the
operations and office technologies employed by the com.pany including personal computer systems
with peripherals and appropriate software packages. Systems are connected via an internal
network and appropriate Internet connections are maintained. G&S's computing capability includes
a complete software library, including word-processing, database and spreadsheet software.
Custom software is maintained, and support from G&S's vendor partners includes computer
programming. G&S maintains complete analytical software packages, including statistical analysis,
cost allocation, forecasting and numerous other packages.
For operations control such as driver and vehicle management and cashiering and billing systems,
G&S has again pioneered new technology. G&S has contracted with Transportation Software
Solutions (TSS) for the development 9f ~n advanced operational control system, including
integration with the Digital Dispatch Systems (DDS) taxicab dispatching system to be described in
upcoming sections (e.g ., to provide transfer of trip information for driver cashiering and for billing).
As an additional consequence of the availability of transfer of data, G&S is able to provide statistical
analysis of data and reporting that is not otherwise available. Quality control takes on new levels of
meaning with prioritized reporting on any deviations from acceptable standards. Sample reports
from the cashiering module
are included in this exhibit.
The system provides
functionality for shared-ride
service and paratransit
management features that
among other capabilities,
provides for the utilization
oftaxicabs in our ADA and
human service
transportation network. An
additional example of
future oriented
development is G&S's work
with TSS creating the
electronic trip sheet system
that has already been
accepted as a replacement
for existing systems. This
system is in-place for
