the Employee exhausts these entitlements under either <strong>of</strong><br />
the plans; or<br />
the Employee dies.<br />
(2) For the purposes <strong>of</strong> this plan the following terms are defined:<br />
Employee: An Employee is one who is full time and covered by a<br />
contractual union agreement which includes the Income Protection<br />
Plan.<br />
Short Term Disability: A period <strong>of</strong> disability resulting from nonoccupational<br />
illness/injury as determined by a qualified medical<br />
practitioner, which prevents an Employee from attending work and<br />
which extends for a period <strong>of</strong> not more than twenty six (26) weeks.<br />
Long Term Disability: A period <strong>of</strong> total disability resulting from<br />
non-occupational illness/injury, as determined by a qualified<br />
medical practitioner, which prevents an Employee from attending<br />
work and which extends for a period <strong>of</strong> more than twenty six (26)<br />
weeks.<br />
Pay: For the purpose <strong>of</strong> this plan, a week's pay for hourly paid<br />
employees shall be the basic hours worked per week multiplied by<br />
the Employee's standard rate per hour, paid on a weekly basis, but<br />
shall not include any shift premium, overtime, or other increments.<br />
It is understood that the weekly amount payable under this plan will<br />
at least match the income benefits El would pay based on the<br />
employee's insurable earnings.<br />
Employee's Standard Rate: For Short/Long Term Disability, the<br />
Employee's standard rate shall mean the rate <strong>of</strong> pay in effect on the<br />
date <strong>of</strong> disability.<br />
(3) TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR IPP:<br />

a new Employee shall commence coverage under the plan<br />
on the first working day following completion <strong>of</strong> their<br />
probationary period.<br />
an Employee who is not at work on becoming eligible will<br />
commence coverage following his/her return to work<br />
in order to be eligible for payment <strong>of</strong> short term disability<br />
benefits, the employee must submit a sick claim form,<br />
