SCHOOL TERMS<br />

While attending training sessions, the apprentices will be paid his/her rate<br />
at the time, not to exceed 40 hours per week.<br />
An apprentice will not be expected to work and go to school during "school<br />
terms" under the Apprenticeship Program.<br />
While attending school portions <strong>of</strong> the program, the apprentice shall be<br />
eligible for all benefits, as provided in the collective agreement.<br />
If the apprentice is not required to attend class, other than a Saturday or a<br />
Sunday, s/heshall inform his/her Supervisor and report to work, if required<br />
by the Supervisor.<br />
The apprentice shall faithfully attend each and every course session. Any<br />
absence must be excused, in advance, by the Supervisor.<br />
If the apprentice is required to pay tuition, the <strong>City</strong> will reimburse the<br />
employee as per the Tuition Reimbursement Policy (50% on registration<br />
and 50% on successful completion).<br />
VACATION<br />
An apprentice will sign for vacations as per his/her seniority in the apprenticeship<br />
classification. An apprentice may not take vacation during an apprenticeship<br />
school term.<br />
OVERTIME<br />
An apprentice may be asked to work overtime in accordance with Article 22.<br />
WORK/TRAINING ASSIGNMENTS<br />
An apprentice shall be assigned to a variety <strong>of</strong> functions, shops, shifts, locations,<br />
as required, to complete the Apprenticeship Program. The apprentice's existing<br />
