agreement. The premiums will be paid in full by the <strong>City</strong> (HSR). All<br />

benefit payments from the Plan are taxable income.<br />

(2) Long term coverage will apply to the period <strong>of</strong> disability in excess <strong>of</strong><br />

twenty-six (26) weeks. Monthly benefits equal 66 2/3% <strong>of</strong> normal<br />

monthly earnings, reduced by income payable from any <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following sources:<br />

(i)<br />

Any other group insurance disability benefits arranged<br />

through the Employer or any pr<strong>of</strong>essional association.<br />

(ii) Governmental disability benefits<br />

(iii) Workers' Safety Insurance Act<br />

(iv)<br />

Canada or Qu6bec Pension Plan benefits (excluding<br />

benefits for dependents and automatic adjustment due to<br />

Cost <strong>of</strong> Living Index while receiving benefit).<br />

DEFINITION OF TOTAL DISABILITY<br />

Total disability means that you are unable, because <strong>of</strong> sickness or<br />

accident, to perform the duties <strong>of</strong> your regular occupation. This<br />

definition applies for the first twenty-four (24) months <strong>of</strong> payments.<br />

After this time, the inability to perform any occupation for which you<br />

are reasonably fitted by training, education or experience will<br />

constitute total disability.<br />

It is not required that you be confined to home, but you must be<br />

under the regular care <strong>of</strong> a physician.<br />

It is specifically understood that LTD benefits are not payable in<br />

respect <strong>of</strong> any illness or injury for which Workplace Safety and<br />

Insurance Board benefits are payable.<br />

(3) For greater certainty, the total <strong>of</strong> the amounts payable by Manulife<br />

Financial or equivalent, integrated with Canada Pension (disability)<br />

throughout any claim for benefit shall be based on the total in effect<br />

at the commencement <strong>of</strong> disability will be reduced so that disability<br />

income received from all sources does not exceed eighty-percent<br />

(80%) <strong>of</strong> your regular monthly earnings at the time you became<br />

disabled.<br />

(4) The Company reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions<br />

cases <strong>of</strong> inequity or abuse, whether on a group or on an individual<br />
