ORDER OF CONSIDERATION<br />

1st consideration- <strong>ATU</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>107</strong> bargaining unit employees<br />

2nd consideration- all <strong>City</strong> employees<br />

3re consideration - External<br />

POSTING APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES<br />

Apprenticeship opportunities will be posted as per the usual Corporate posting<br />

process. Order <strong>of</strong> consideration shall be as outlined above.<br />

SELECTION PROCESS<br />

Pre-requisite:<br />

• Grade 12 (as per Ministry guidelines)<br />

Knowledge and/or experience in automotive mechanics; i.e. courses in<br />

high school.<br />

Preference will be given to applicants with recognized apprenticeship<br />

hours<br />

Applicants who meet the pre-requisites outlined above shall be required to attain<br />

70% pass on written tests and if successful with the test, shall proceed to the<br />

interview stage where a 70% pass is also required. Applicants that pass both<br />

assessments shall have a final mark comprised <strong>of</strong> 60% test and 40% interview.<br />

PROBATIONARY PERIOD<br />

An apprentice may be removed from the training program by the Manager <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Transit</strong> Fleet Maintenance, or upon request <strong>of</strong> the employee, and his/her<br />

Apprenticeship Contract cancelled at any time during the first twelve-month<br />

period <strong>of</strong> the apprenticeship.<br />

If the apprentice was a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>ATU</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>107</strong> prior to the apprenticeship<br />

program, s/he shall be returned to the pre-apprenticeship job classification with<br />

no loss <strong>of</strong> <strong>ATU</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>107</strong>.<br />

Employees previously included in the scope <strong>of</strong> another bargaining unit shall be<br />

governed by the terms and conditions <strong>of</strong> their respective previous collective<br />

agreement in regards to returning to their previous position.<br />

The Employer shall have the exclusive right to remove employees from the<br />

Apprenticeship program during the probationary period provided the decision to<br />
