on the first eight (8) hours shall not be <strong>of</strong>fset against weekly overtime<br />

premium.<br />

MAINTENANCE<br />

22.07 Forty (40) hours shall constitute a normal weeks' work and whenever<br />

possible two (2) consecutive days <strong>of</strong>f will be provided. Three (3) days<br />

notice, if possible, shall be given for change <strong>of</strong> days <strong>of</strong>f but a shorter<br />

notice may.be given where mutually agreed. This Article is not to be<br />

construed as a guarantee <strong>of</strong> steady employment or as a guarantee <strong>of</strong> an<br />

annual wage or <strong>of</strong> five (5) days' work in any week. The normal work week<br />

shall be the calendar week beginning Sunday.<br />

22.08 The <strong>City</strong> (HSR) agrees that all hourly-rated Employees covered by this<br />

part, shall be given five (5) minutes wash-up time to be used only before<br />

the lunch period and again only before the final whistle on the conclusion<br />

<strong>of</strong> work.<br />

22.09 Employees covered by this part shall receive a fifteen (15) minute rest<br />

period in the first half <strong>of</strong> the shift and a thirty (30) minute paid lunch period<br />

during the third quarter <strong>of</strong> the shift.<br />

Employees covered by this part who work ten (10) hour shifts (or longer)<br />

shall receive a fifteen (15) minute rest period near the quarter-point, a<br />

thirty (30) minute paid lunch near the mid-point, and a fifteen (15) minute<br />

rest period near the three quarter (3/4) point <strong>of</strong> the shift.<br />

22.10 (a) If overtime is arranged to be continued on the next shift,<br />

(i)<br />

(ii)<br />

(iii)<br />

it will be assigned on a seniority basis, within the job<br />

classification concerned, from those qualified Employees<br />

presently at work, except for an Employee finishing a<br />

particular job which he has started.<br />

if it is necessary to go outside the job classification, the<br />

assignment will be on a seniority basis from qualified<br />

Employees presently at work.<br />

if necessary to go beyond those presently at work, the<br />

assignment will be on a seniority basis:<br />

(1st) regular day <strong>of</strong>f Employees in the job classification and<br />

shiftconcerned.<br />

(2nd) other Employees in the job classification.<br />
