Plant slightly or strongly viscous; stem hirsute with spreading,<br />

yellowish or yellowish brown hairs averaging more than 1.5 mm. long;<br />

leaves hastate (lateral lobes often reduced; midnerve: lateral nerves,<br />

2: 1 or 3: 2), appressed-hirsute or lanuginous-hirsute on both surfaces,<br />

densely or sparingly glandular-ciliate; bracts 2 to 3 cm. long at postanthesis,<br />

bipinnatisect or tripinnatisect; ovary hirsute with white or<br />

brownish hairs; fruit 2 to 2.5 cm. in diameter, yellowish, sparingly,<br />

rarely densely, hirsute.<br />

TYPE LOCALITY: Perhaps Lesser Antilles, the precise origin of the<br />

Linnean type uncertain.<br />
