This and the next following species are readily distinguished by
the stout peduncles and the long, narrow sepals. The operculum of
P. longipes is quite unlike that of any near relatives.
This is the type species of Bory's Anthactinia, a genus proposed
for the granadillas with entire leaves and glandular petioles. No
other species were formally transferred by Bory, but Roemer applied
the generic name to several Old World species of Passifloraceae.
