This species is<br />

at once recognized by the palmately 5-7-lobed<br />

leaves. The calyx tube is rather longer than in most species of<br />

Granadilla, and is lined within with numerous rows of minute<br />

tubercles, perhaps rudimentary corona filaments. Masters' figure<br />

does not appear to represent well the interior structure of the flower,<br />

as shown by field observations as well as by dissections of herbarium<br />

material. This figure shows a 2-ranked corona at the throat of the<br />

tube, with another row of filaments about a third of the way down<br />

the tube, and an "inframedia" corona (nectar ring) near the base.<br />

The tuberculate lining of the tube is not shown.
