The xSeries 343 contains four drive bays. The top bay on the left contains the standard CD-ROM drive and the bay beneath contains the standard 1.44MB, 3.5in
slim-line diskette drive. Two 3.5in slim-line bays are located side-by-side, one beneath the CD-ROM and FDD at the bottom of the chassis and the other directly
beside it on the right side of the server.
One bay contains the standard 10,000rpm, Ultra160 SCSI nonhot-swap HDD and the other is unpopulated. The 24x-10x IDE CD-ROM is connected to the IDE
port. HDDs installed in the drive bays are connected to the internal connector of the integrated Ultra160 SCSI controller through a two-drop, 16-bit LVD SCSI
cable. The xSeries 343 contains an external 0.8mm VHDCI connector to attach supported external SCSI devices to the second channel of the integrated SCSI
controller.
