Configuration Interconnect hardware connections<br />

1. Server with ASMP or ISMP and two integrated RS-485 ASM<br />

interconnect ports on the rear of the chassis<br />

Key Features:<br />

• Allows standard system management functionality, including remote flash update of BIOS<br />

and adapter microcode, remote hardware diagnostics, and monitoring and alerting of critical<br />

voltage and temperature thresholds.<br />

• Remote BIOS update only available on ASMP.<br />

• Only includes ISMP with firmware v1.02 or later.<br />

xSeries 232, 235, 250, 255, 330, 342, 345, 350<br />

Instructions:<br />

1. Attach customer-supplied Cat5 cables (for connection to one or two other ASM<br />

interconnect nodes) to the integrated RS-485 ports at the rear of the server. Unused RS-485<br />

ports must be terminated with the supplied RS-485 terminator.<br />

2. Server with standard ASMA<br />

Key Features:<br />

xSeries 370 shi<strong>ps</strong> standard with ASMA, which provides all basic system management<br />

functionality including remote management via Telnet or a Web interface.<br />

Requires purchase of ASM Interconnect Cable Kit (P/N 03K9309).<br />

Instructions:<br />

1. Insert pigtail cable into RS-485 interconnect port on adapter panel.<br />

2. Attach customer-supplied Cat5 cables (for connection to one or two other ASM<br />

interconnect nodes) to the integrated RS-485 ports of the pigtail adapter. Unused RS-485<br />

ports must be terminated with the supplied RS-485 terminator.<br />
