CDOT Performance Data Business Plan
The dashboard should be easily accessed from the CDOT Home Page, and
can serve as the highest tier of an on-line application with drill-down
capabilities for each measure as shown in Figure 5.19. As learned from best
practices of other agencies, the following features should be incorporated in
the performance measure detail pages:
simple definitions;
how often the measure is updated, and why;
sources of data;
easy navigation using navigation bar, drop-down menus, and tabs;
filters so users can access data of interest;
methods and calculations used to assign grades;
comparisons to national averages (for selected measures)(if desired);
drill-down to specific department goals and strategies;
issues mitigating results, such as budget limitations;
branding consistent with rest of CDOT website; and
export options for tabular data.
