was best predicted by the combination of increasing<br />

birth-weight deviation and male sex, whereas the best<br />

combination of variables contributing significantly to<br />

MND-2 was abnormal BFC and male sex. Global<br />

IQ £85 was best predicted by abnormal BFC, fetal gestational<br />

age at measurement, and social group. Fetal<br />

gestational age at measurement was present as an<br />

additional risk factor, due to interaction with BFC.<br />

When the last BFC measurement was normal and<br />

performed after 37 gestational weeks of pregnancy,<br />

only one child of 40 had a global IQ
