Weyerhaeuser Elementary/Secondary <strong>School</strong> is a P-K-12 (P-K-6; 7-12)<br />
teaching/learning facility, located in the Village of Weyerhaeuser. The<br />
facility was originally constructed in 1955 (stated as mid-1950’s) and<br />
received two subsequent additions in 1977 and 2005. Weyerhaeuser<br />
Elementary/Secondary <strong>School</strong> provided 64,039 square feet of<br />
teaching/learning, office, and support spaces during the 2008-09<br />
organizational year. With an enrollment of 159 students in 2008-09, the<br />
facility offered a cost/ineffectively high 402.8 square feet/student.<br />
5.4 Facility Observations by the Project Consultants<br />
The Project Consultants toured the <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce’s, Ladysmith-<br />
Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District’s, and Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District’s<br />
facilities to assess the educational adequacy of the facilities.<br />
Educational adequacy is a phrase employed to describe the capabilities<br />
of a school facility to enhance the delivery of modern-day programs,<br />
services, methodologies, and learning experiences that will ensure<br />
students are well-positioned to perform with distinction in a highlycompetitive,<br />
global marketplace upon high school graduation and<br />
