District’s facilities are adequate to good by modern-day standards.<br />

Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District operates a single<br />

elementary/secondary school facility. The school is adequate by modernday<br />

standards. With an enrollment of 159 students in 2008-09,<br />

Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District’s teaching/learning facility offered a<br />

cost/ineffectively high 402.8 square feet/student.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce’s long-term facility debt—principal and<br />

interest—at the conclusion of the 2007-08 organizational year was<br />

$2,639,793. The school district had no capital leases in place at the time.<br />

Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District’s long-term facility debt—principal and<br />

interest—at the conclusion of the 2006-07 organizational year was<br />

$23,386,446. The Project Consultants concluded that the school district’s<br />

long-term facility debt—when compared to its margin of indebtedness—<br />

was substantial.<br />

Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District’s long-term facility debt—principal and<br />

interest—amounted to $493,867 in 2007-08. The school district had no<br />

capital leases in place at that time.<br />

The Project Consultants concluded that the <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce will<br />

experience significant difficulties in containing facility costs—due to the<br />

structural design—as student enrollment continues to decline and square<br />

footage/student further escalates.<br />
