5.7 Utilities Expenditure<br />
The Project Consultants reviewed the 2007-08 utilities consumption<br />
(electricity, natural gas, water/sewer, and garbage) for the <strong>School</strong> District of<br />
Bruce, Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District, and Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong><br />
District.<br />
The <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce expended $49,800 for electricity, $57,400 for<br />
natural gas, $7,150 for water/sewer, and $4,150 for garbage, totaling<br />
$118,500 during the 2007-08 organizational year. With a total of 125,000<br />
square feet of facility, the school district’s combined utility cost consumption<br />
was $.95/square foot. The utility cost consumption per student (using the<br />
551 students enrolled in 2008-09) was $215/student.<br />
Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District expended $168,178 for electricity,<br />
$199,431 for natural gas/propane, $14,782 for water/sewer, and $16,819<br />
for garbage, totaling $399,210 during the 2007-08 organizational year.<br />
With a total of 300,050 square feet of facility, the school district’s combined<br />
utility cost consumption was $1.33/square foot. The utility cost<br />
consumption per student (using the 990 students enrolled in 2008-09) was<br />
$403/student.<br />
Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District expended $33,151 for electricity,<br />
$36,238 for natural gas, $2,921 for water/sewer, and $3,494 for garbage,<br />
totaling $75,804 during the 2007-08 organizational year. With a total of<br />
64,039 square feet of facility, the school district’s combined utility cost<br />
