Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District’s 2008-09 teacher salary schedule<br />

wages/benefits were reported as follows: BA: $28,030; BA + 24: $29,552;<br />

MA/BA +30: $29,932; MA + 18: $31,073; and MA + 18 (top): $47,100.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce’s health benefits were detailed as follows: full<br />

premium health benefits for all teachers.<br />

Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District’s health benefits were detailed as<br />

follows: teachers receive 95% single/family health insurance (100% if one<br />

teacher is married to another employee).<br />

Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District’s health benefits were detailed as<br />

follows: teachers receive single or family health insurance benefits at 98%<br />

of quoted premium. Teacher voluntary retirement health benefits are<br />

$250/month for a maximum of five years.<br />

Consolidation of the <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce, Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong><br />

District, and Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong> District teaching staffs would likely<br />

result in a moderate increase in wages/salary and health benefits for the<br />

resulting, merged teaching staff.<br />

3.10 Employee Retirement System Obligations<br />

The Project Consultants examined the <strong>School</strong> District of Bruce’s,<br />

Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District’s, and Weyerhaeuser Area <strong>School</strong><br />

District’s annual financial reports (audits) to ascertain long-term obligations<br />

to the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a cost-sharing, multi-employer<br />

defined benefit Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).<br />
