The breadth and scope of grade 9-12 course offerings made available to<br />
Bruce High <strong>School</strong> students during the 2008-09 school year would be<br />
considered comparable to offerings found in high schools with student<br />
populations of comparable critical student mass.<br />
During the 2008-09 school year, Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District<br />
employed an eight period schedule with a period length of 47 minutes and<br />
passing periods of 4 minutes. <strong>School</strong> hours extended from 8:15 a.m.<br />
through 3:30 p.m. Course offerings were typically designed on a semester<br />
or year-long basis.<br />
The Project Consultants studied the Ladysmith-Hawkins High <strong>School</strong> and<br />
Health Care Academy 2008-09 Course Description Book to understand<br />
the breadth and scope of course offerings which would be made available<br />
to grade 9-12 students in Ladysmith-Hawkins High <strong>School</strong> during the 2008-<br />
09 school year.<br />
Table 12-LH reports that Ladysmith-Hawkins High <strong>School</strong> (and the school<br />
district’s Health Care Academy) made available 77.5 credit course offerings<br />
to high school students in grades 9-12 during the 2008-09 school year.<br />
Course offerings spanned 12 disciplines: art; business education; English;<br />
family and consumer science; mathematics; music; physical education and<br />
health; science; social studies; technology education; world languages; and<br />
Health Care Academy.<br />
High school students in grades 9-12 were afforded the broadest array of<br />
credit course offerings in the following subject-matter disciplines at<br />
Ladysmith-Hawkins <strong>School</strong> District (and the Health Care Academy) during<br />
