verifies the instructor’s attributes against the process rules. (The instructor’s
attributes are defined in the Faculty Attribute Block of the Faculty Information
Form [SIAINST].) If an instructor meets the specified criteria, he or she can view
grades.
• If no rules have been established on SOAFAPC and Faculty Attribute Checking
has been set up on GTVSDAX, all instructors can view grades.
• If the instructor does not have the specified attributes, he or she cannot view
grades.
Value-based security (VBS) for other faculty members works as follows.
• If Faculty Attribute Checking has not been set up on GTVSDAX and VBS has been
set up, only faculty members meeting the VBS definitions can view grades.
• If VBS has not been set up, all active instructors can view grades.
Advisor Access to the Electronic Gradebook
Access is based upon the following criteria. These criteria are listed in the sequence in
which they are processed by the system.
All advisors assigned to the student for the term can view grades, but you can restrict
access as follows.
• If Advisor Type Checking has been set up on GTVSDAX, the system searches the
processes defined on SOAFAPC. If the DISPLAYGRADES process has been
defined, the system verifies the advisor’s attributes against the process rules. (The
advisor’s type is defined on the Multiple Advisors Form [SGAADVR].) If the
advisor meets the specified criteria, he or she can view grades.
• If no rules have been established on SOAFAPC and Advisor Type Checking has
been set up on GTVSDAX, all assigned advisors can view grades.
• If the advisor does not have the specified attributes, he or she cannot view grades.

up, only assigned advisors meeting the VBS definitions can view grades.
