Graz, Austria. He is the member of many
Slovenian bands such as Begnagrad, Quatebriga,
Nimal, Bocoj, Hiša, Hammond trio
and others. He is an active studio musician
and composer or co-composer of music for
many Slovenian films (The Last Supper, Lojze
Woke Up As Usual, Striptih, Naprej), TV
films (Na pepelu raja, Spleti, Noč angela),
theater and puppet theatre plays and about
100 TV shows. For the Slovenian National
Radio-Television he set to music 15 poems
from the collection Iskanja (Quests) by the
Slovenian poet Niko Grafenauer and also
15 poems of the Slovenian poet Dane Zajc.
Since 1995 Nino has been working within
the independent music production program
Glasbeni Arboretum (Musical Arboretum), a
collaboration which Nino likes to describe
as “a rainbow of wonderful musical escapades,
which, above all, tries to encourage
creativity and open-mindedness”. Through
his career Nino has been working with many
famous and unknown artists as actively as
possible. Currently he mostly plays with the
Fake Orchestra, Igor Leonardi’s band, Brina,
and the Godalika String Quartet, for which
he often composes music for.
Boštjan Gombač
Boštjan Gombač je znan slovenski multiinštrumentalist
ter skladatelj glasbe za
gledališče, film in televizijo, tuje pa mu
niso niti odrske deske. Že med študijem
klarineta, pod mentorstvom prof. Jožeta
Kotarja na ljubljanski Akademiji za glasbo,
se je navduševal za različne glasbene zvrsti.
Glasbena pot ga je namreč že kot najstnika
popeljala po svetu in mu odpirala
nova obzorja v glasbenem izražanju. Sam
pravi, da mu je pri njegovem ustvarjanju
zvok navdih in vodilo. Bolj nenavaden ko
je, večji izziv, možnost izražanja ter veselje
do dela mu nudi. Njegovo delo preteklih
desetih let lahko zasledimo na približno
70 nosilcih zvoka in zajema vse od etna
do resne glasbe. Je mojster pihal, kot so
klarinet, kositrne piščali in okarine, igra
na pojočo žago, bodhran in theremin ter
kopico drugih nenavadnih inštrumentov
in zvočil, ki jih le redko zasledimo na koncertnih
odrih. S skupino Terrafolk je požel
mnogo glasbenih nagrad in priznanj, med
drugim tudi nagrado občinstva radia BBC
3, sodeloval pa je tudi s skupinami Katalena,
Bast in Bachology Quartet. Nastopil je
že s kopico znanih imen slovenske glasbe
in z mnogimi tujimi glasbeniki, kot so Neil
Innes, Tommy Emmanuel, The Cat Empire,
Arvid Engegård, Susanne Lundeng, Knut
Erik Sundquist, Josipa Lisac … Trenutno
dokazuje svoj igralski talent v predstavi
»Patty Diphusa – Izpovedi porno dive«, ki
je bila nagrajena kot najboljša predstava
na Teatarfestu 2008.
Boštjan Gombač is a popular Slovene multiinstrumentalist
and theatre, film and television
composer. He became enraptured
by different musical styles while studying
clarinet with Jože Kotar at the Academy of
Music in Ljubljana – not surprisingly since
his musical path led him around the globe
as a teenager and opened new horizons to
his musical expression. Boštjan says that
the sound is the inspiration and guidance
of his creativeness. Over the past ten years
he recorded over 70 CD-s, ranging from folk
to classical music. He masters playing wind
instruments such as the clarinet, tin whistles
and ocarina. He also plays the singing saw,
bodhran, theremin and many other peculiar
instruments that are rarely seen on stage. As
member of the Slovene folk band Terrafolk
he won many awards including the BBC Radio
3 World Music Audience Award in 2003.
He is also well known as an important member
of many other Slovene bands, including
Katalena, Bast and the Bachology Quartet.
Boštjan has performed with numerous famous
Slovene and foreign musicians, such
as Neil Innes, Tommy Emmanuel, The Cat
Empire, Arvid Engegård, Susanne Lundeng,
Knut Erik Sundquist, Josipa Lisac … Nowadays
he is demonstrating one of his many
other talents – acting in “Patty Diphusa –
Confessions of a Porno Diva”, the award
winning play of Teatarfest 2008.
