Neil Finn, Tim Freedman and Paul Capsis,

and poet/cartoonist Michael Leunig. In
2003, Richard was co-composer of the score
for Peter Weir’s Master and Commander:
The Far Side of the World; violin tutor for
its star, Russell Crowe; and can also be
heard performing on the award-winning
soundtrack. In 2005, together with Michael
Yezerski he co-composed the soundtrack to
Tom Carroll’s surf film Horrorscopes and,
in 2008, created The Red Tree, inspired by
illustrator Shaun Tan’s book.
Alongside numerous recordings with the
ACO, Richard Tognetti has recently recorded
Bach’s solo violin repertoire for ABC Classics.
The unaccompanied sonatas and partitas
were released in 2005 to critical acclaim and
awarded the 2006 ARIA Award for Best Classical
Album. The concertos were released in
2006 and awarded the 2007 ARIA for Best
Classical Album. The final instalment, the
accompanied sonatas, was released in 2007
and recently collected the 2008 ARIA for Best
Classical Album. Future recordings include a
set of Mozart concertante violin works and
the Dvorak Violin Concerto for the BIS label.
A passionate advocate for music education,
Tognetti established the ACO’s Education
and Emerging Artists programs in 2005
and toured regional Australia with a concert
based on the inspiring documentary
film, Musica Surfica (recently awarded best
feature at the New York Surf Film Festival).
Richard Tognetti holds honorary doctorates
from three Australian universities and was
made a National Living Treasure in 1999.
He performs on a 1743 Guarneri del Gesù,
made available exclusively to him by an
anonymous Australian private benefactor.

in Filharmoničnim orkestrom francoskega
radia. V sezoni 2005–2006 je vodil Francoski
narodni orkester, Ensemble Orchestral
de Paris ter debitiral v Nemčiji z Deželno
Filharmonijo Rheinland-Pfalz v Ludwigshafnu.
V sezoni 2006–2007 je debitiral
v Italiji (La Boheme, Teatro comunale di
Bologna) ter med drugimi vodil orkestre,
kot so: Toscaninijeva filharmonija (Parma),
Sicilijanski simfonični orkester (Palermo),
Filharmonija iz Monte Carla ter sodeloval
na festivalu Le Printemps des Arts v Monaku.
Sezono 2007/2008 je pričel s Filharmonijo
iz Rotterdama, sledil je Orkester
italijanskega radia iz Torina, Londonski
filharmonični orkester, Nemški simfonični
orkester iz Berlina, Filharmonija iz Monte
Carla, Filharmonija iz Osla ter odmeven
debi z Münchenskimi filharmoniki. V sezoni
2008/2009 je debitiral v leipziškem
Gewandhausu ter v Stochkolmu (Orkester
švedskega radia), gostoval v Milanu
(Verdijev orkester), Torinu (orkester RAI)
ter Londonu (Philharmonia London). Sezona
bo tudi v znamenju debija v Bavarski
državni operi v Münchnu ter Nemški
operi v Berlinu, v Benetkah bo vodil Orkester
opere La Fenice in v Los Angelesu
debitiral s Losangeleškimi filharmoniki.
V prihajajoči sezoni ga med drugimi že
pričakujejo Münchenski filharmoniki,
Saška državna kapela iz Dresdna, Bavarska
državna opera, Pittsburški simfoniki
in Washingtonski nacionalni simfonični
orkester. Z novembrom 2009 bo postal
Maestro Juraj Valčuha šef dirigent Nacionalnega
simfoničnega orkestra RAI
Torino.

Juraj Valčuha
Slovaški dirigent Juraj Valčuha je študiral
kompozicijo in dirigiranje na konservatoriju
v Bratislavi. Po diplomi je dve leti
študiral dirigiranje v St. Peterburgu pri Ilji
Musinu, leta 1998 pa se je preselil v Pariz
