There are not many symphonic orchestras
in the world to pride themselves on such an
intensive and long-standing tradition as the
Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra can. The
geographical significance of this country
between the Alps and the Adriatic, at the
crossing-point of Germanic, Romance and
Slavic worlds, permitted the musical art to
follow the musical trends from North and
South and from East and West. The history
of the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra and
its predecessors Academia Philharmonicorum
(1701), the Philharmonic Society (1794),
and the first Slovene Philharmonic (1908–
1913) make it one of the oldest in the world.
Among the many great names that became
honorary members of the Slovene Philharmonic
we can find Joseph Haydn, Ludwig
van Beethoven, Niccolò Paganini, Johannes
Brahms, Carlos Kleiber and many others.
The Orchestra has re-affirmed its reputation
on numerous tours across European cultural
centres and in the United States of America
and Japan, presenting itself also at many
renowned International Festivals (Wiener
Festwochen; Maggio Musicale Fiorentino,
The Prague Summer, The Warsaw Autumn,
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Ravenna
Festival …). In 2006 the Orchestra achieved
great success at the tour of Switzerland, and
surpassed all expectations on its first Japan
tour ever. In 2007 they had concerts in Ludwigshaffen,
Lugano, La Chaud-de-Fonds,
and Dubrovnik, and last year they have performed
in Budapest, Bratislava, MIDEM in
Cannes, Sarajevo, Bruxelles, Graz, St. Pölten,
Villach and Vienna.
Slovenski komorni
zbor / The Slovenian
Chamber Choir
Slovenski komorni zbor, ki od leta 1998
deluje kot samostojna organizacijska
enota Slovenske filharmonije, je edini
profesionalni pevski zbor pri nas. Ustanovljen
je bil leta 1991 na pobudo Mirka
Cudermana, ki je že ves čas tudi njegov
umetniški vodja. Osnovna naloga zbora
so koncerti vokalno-inštrumentalne
in a capella glasbe v okviru Vokalnega
abonmaja, redno pa sodeluje tudi v vokalno-inštrumentalnih
projektih z domačimi
in tujimi orkestri. Slovenski komorni
zbor je sodeloval z mnogimi uglednimi
tujimi zborovskimi dirigenti (E. Ericson,
T. Kaljuste, G. Theuring, V. Kranjčević, J.
Scheidegger, H. Leenders …), prav tako
pa je imel na vokalno-inštrumentalnih
koncertih priložnost peti pod taktirkami
uglednih domačih in tujih orkestrskih
dirigentov (M. Horvat, K. Penderecki, H.
Haenchen, U. Gronostay, T. Guschlbauer,
J. Kovács, K. Kobayashi, R. Muti …). Na
svojih koncertih je zbor odpel več krstnih
izvedb domačih in tujih avtorjev, večina
njegovih programov v Vokalnem abonmaju
pa je bila slovenskemu občinstvu
predstavljena prvič. Med drugim je SKZ
izdal trideset zgoščenk slovenske sakralne
glasbe pod imenom Musica Sacra Slovenica,
se predstavil tujemu občinstvu na
številnih evropskih festivalih in je večkratni
nagrajenec festivala Varaždinski
baročni večeri.
The Slovenian Chamber Choir was founded
in 1991 as a professional choir on the initiative
of Mirko Cuderman, who has been leading
it ever since. It operates as an individual
organisational unit within the Slovenian
Philharmonics and has approximately
35 performances per concert season. Its
basic goals are vocal/instrumental and a
cappella music concerts within the Vocal
season series, and it is regularly active in
vocal/instrumental projects in cooperation
with Slovenian and foreign orchestras. The
Slovenian Chamber Choir has performed
with numerous foreign choirmasters for the
Vocal season series (E. Ericson, T. Kaljuste,
G. Theuring, V. Kranjčević, J. Scheidegger, H.
Leenders …). The vocal/instrumental music
concerts offered many great opportunities
for the choir to sing under the baton of re-
