Food Service and Hospitality Management Technology<br />

Associate of Applied <strong>Science</strong>, (AAS.FSM)<br />

This program prepares students for an entry-level, food<br />

service supervisory position in commercial and institutional<br />

facilities, and also provides career development for food<br />

service and lodging employees. This program emphasizes<br />

management skills.<br />

Employment opportunities exist in restaurants, hospitals,<br />

schools, hotels, convenience stores, nursing homes,<br />

cafeterias, clubs, recreation, fast-food, and catering.<br />

Students who wish to transfer to a baccalaureate program<br />

are strongly advised to seek information regarding<br />

admission and transfer requirements.<br />

Graduates of this program should be able to:<br />

Gain the technical and scientific knowledge of<br />

hospitality management;<br />

Demonstrate the knowledge of risk management<br />

in the maintenance of a safe and sanitary facility;<br />

Understand the methods used to control costs;<br />

Display an understanding of basic<br />

human resources issues;<br />

Identify the unique aspects of marketing<br />

hospitality services;<br />

Understand the basic fundamentals in the<br />

operational areas of food production,<br />

customer service, purchasing and nutrition;<br />

Perform satisfactorily at an entry-level management<br />

trainee position at a food service or hospitality<br />
