Accounting Technology<br />
Associate of Applied <strong>Science</strong>, (AAS.ACC)<br />
This A.A.S. program is designed primarily to meet the<br />
needs of those students who intend to seek immediate<br />
employment in the accounting field upon graduation.<br />
Graduates typically enter public accounting firms,<br />
private industry, or government service in the capacity of<br />
junior accountants.<br />
Students wishing to transfer are strongly advised to seek<br />
information regarding admission and transfer requirements<br />
for those programs.<br />
Graduates of this program should be able to:<br />
Perform all the steps in the accounting cycle.<br />
Record business transactions.<br />
Prepare financial statements for different types of<br />
organizations.<br />
Utilize the computer to record accounting<br />
information and perform spreadsheet analysis.<br />

Accounting Certificate<br />
Certificate (CRT.ACC)<br />
This certificate program provides the knowledge, skills, and<br />
practice in accounting and related fields for a person with<br />
work experience or educational background in a nonaccounting<br />
field. This certificate program requires a minimum<br />
of 33 credit hours. Persons with either a bachelor’s degree<br />
or associate degree may substitute business courses or<br />
computer science courses in place of math and English<br />
courses. In other words those with an AS, BS or BA degree<br />
may use this program to enter a four-year accounting<br />
degree program. Certificate holders can also enter either<br />
private or public service areas.<br />
Students may be able to transfer certificate credits for use in<br />
associate or baccalaureate degree program. Students are<br />
strongly advised to seek information regarding admission<br />
and transfer requirements for those programs.<br />
