<strong>College</strong>/Community Concert Band I-IV 1 cr.<br />
The BCC <strong>College</strong>/Community Concert<br />
rehearses once per week. The Concert Band<br />
performs at the end of each semester. Other<br />
performances may be scheduled during the<br />
semester. Concert Band members are required<br />
to audition for the one credit music<br />

This course continues the focus on diatonic<br />
harmony, providing an opportunity for the<br />
students to write in the harmonic style of the<br />
romantic period. It emphasizes four-part<br />
writing with figured bass, analysis of harmonic<br />
materials, and reproduction of the keyboard.<br />

ability particular instruction in preparation for<br />

NUR 103 Medication Administration 1 cr.<br />
This course focuses on the ability to accurately<br />
prepare dosages for medication administration.<br />
Basic principles are introduced for use as<br />
guidelines for accurate amounts of medication<br />
and their forms (pills, milliliters, drops-perminute)<br />
to be administered. Converting<br />
among household, apothecary, and<br />
intravenous dosages is discussed. Reading and<br />
interpreting medication labels are stressed.<br />
Adult and pediatric dosages are covered.<br />

NUR 119 Fundamentals of Nursing 7 cr.<br />
This initial nursing course explores and applies<br />
concepts basic to nursing. Fundamental<br />
psychomotor and communication nursing<br />
skills are developed and applied within a<br />
framework of the nursing process and<br />
Maslow’s human needs. Clinical experiences<br />
focus on alterations in basic needs of adult<br />
and senescent patients with chronic medical<br />
conditions. The course includes classroom,<br />
college-based laboratory, and clinical<br />
experiences.<br />
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the BCC nursing<br />
program by meeting the acceptance criteria.<br />

NUR 120 Nursing of Families 9 cr.<br />
This course examines the health and social<br />
situations of today’s family. Areas of focus are<br />
the birth process, children from newborns to<br />
adolescents, and women’s health needs. It<br />
emphasizes physical assessment, health<br />
promotion, growth and development and<br />
general needs identification as related to<br />
healthy and ill childbearing families.<br />
Psychomotor, communication and medication<br />
administration skills are developed. The course<br />
includes classroom, college-based laboratory<br />
and clinical experiences.<br />

This elective course introduces the principles<br />
of pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapy.<br />
It presents current content with regard to<br />

groups. Critical thinking case studies highlight<br />
pertinent information.<br />

This course focuses on the patient who has<br />
experienced acute stress through surgical and<br />
psychological trauma. Using the nursing<br />
process, it emphasizes the care of complex<br />
patients through all phases of the surgical<br />
experience and mental health rehabilitation.<br />
Observational opportunities are provided in<br />
mental health facilities and multiple perioperative<br />
surgical settings. This course<br />
includes classroom and clinical experiences.<br />

This course is the culmination of the<br />
exploration of the health needs of the<br />
individual. It focuses on the patient having<br />
multiple unmet needs, requiring complex<br />
nursing interventions. It emphasizes providing<br />
care to individuals and groups of patients. It<br />
stresses mastery of intricate psychomotor<br />
techniques, medication administration skills,<br />
and the administration of continuous IV (drip<br />
meds) pharmachotherapeutics. The course<br />
includes classroom and clinical experiences.<br />
