Entertainment Technologies/Entertainment Management<br />

Option to Entertainment Technologies, (AAS.ETM)<br />

The Entertainment Technology Program provides students<br />

with a solid foundation in the knowledge and skills needed<br />

for entry into the entertainment field, or to transfer to a<br />

baccalaureate program. Students may choose from the<br />

following four options: Entertainment Management<br />

(AAS.ETM), Lighting Engineering (AAS.ETL), Sound and<br />

Recording Engineering (AAS.ETS), and Video and Digital<br />

Media Production (AAS.ETV). Students who wish to transfer<br />

to a baccalaureate program are strongly advised to seek<br />

information regarding admission and transfer requirements.<br />

The Entertainment Management Option will prepare<br />

students for entry-level employment in many areas such as<br />

cable television, related video fields, theatre, casino hotels,<br />

radio, and nightclubs, as well as entrepreneurship<br />

opportunities in the arts, entertainment, leisure, and<br />

associated areas.<br />

Graduates of this program should be able to:<br />

Understand the ethics of the entertainment media and<br />

have a fundamental knowledge of Entertainment Law<br />

including the knowledge of the various legal and<br />

copyright issues.<br />

Develop and understanding of the influence of governmental<br />

organizations and upon the entertainment<br />

industry.<br />

Apply fundamental marketing concepts in entertainment<br />

marketing planning, research and information<br />

management, the segmentation process and target<br />

markets, and developing and entertainment marketing<br />

mix and strategy.<br />

Assist entertainment producers in managing facilities,<br />

scheduling events, work with facility operators, assist in<br />

developing budgets, purchasing equipment, planning<br />

maintenance and custodial cycles, and participate in<br />

negotiation associated risk management agreements.<br />

Apply and understanding of artist contracts, copyright<br />

issues, labor agreements, equipment and audio/visual<br />

materials, and collaborate and work with agents and<br />

managers in the entertainment business.<br />

Exhibit an understanding of basic business and<br />

accounting skills which include financial statements, the<br />

maintenance of accurate records, preparation of budget<br />

proposals, and the financial oversight responsibilities.<br />

Obtain entry-level employment in the entertainment<br />

industry.<br />
