This course focuses on dramatic literature<br />
and examines man’s political, social, and<br />
psychological relationship to his environment.<br />
It examines the basic elements of a theatrical<br />
production and the experience of a<br />

THR 105 Fundamentals of Acting I 3 cr.<br />
This course focuses on the fundamentals of<br />
acting with application of the principles and<br />
theory of creative acting. It includes exercises<br />
in the acting methods and practices of the<br />
modern actor. It requires performance of<br />
scenes and exercises from contemporary<br />
and classic dramatic literature.<br />

This course continues to build on the<br />
fundamentals learned in THR 105.<br />

THR 110 Stagecraft I 3 cr.<br />
This course offers practical experience in scene<br />
design and construction, lighting, costuming,<br />
make-up, and sound effects. It focuses on the<br />
terminology and equipment appropriate for a<br />
stage and investigates the visual and technical<br />
aspects of the nature of stagecraft.<br />
Note: This course may be repeated for credit.<br />

THR 113 Children’s Theatre 3 cr.<br />
This course focuses on the theory and the<br />
and market a children’s theatre production. By<br />
testing and displaying skills in a practical<br />
production situation, the student is involved in<br />
all phases of mounting a children’s theatre<br />
production that will be performed for<br />
<strong>Burlington</strong> <strong>County</strong> elementary school<br />
students.<br />

THR 121 Musical Theatre 3 cr.<br />
This course is the first semester of a twosemester<br />
course which focuses on the acting,<br />
singing and dancing (“triple threat”) skills that<br />
are necessary to develop individual uniqueness<br />
as a musical theatre artist. It includes a study<br />
of the origins and history of musical theatre,<br />
the major contributors, and the analysis of the<br />
basic elements of the genre. At the conclusion<br />
of the course, students are prepared to<br />
audition for THR 130.<br />

THR 125 Voice and Diction 3 cr.<br />
Voice and Diction is the study of vocal<br />
mechanisms, phonetics and related exercises<br />
to improve articulation, pronunciation and<br />
expressive intonation. The course also covers<br />
the International Phonetic Alphabet and its<br />
uses in vocal performance.<br />

THR 130 Musical Theatre Workshop 3 cr.<br />
This course is the second semester of a twosemester<br />
course which enables students to<br />
apply the acting, singing, and dancing (“triple<br />
threat”) skills from THR 121 to perform a fully<br />
costumed, technically complete musical<br />
production.<br />
Prerequisite: THR 121<br />

THR 132 Musical Theatre Workshop II 3 cr.<br />
This course is available to students working on<br />
their second musical production at <strong>Burlington</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Students will apply acting,<br />
singing and dancing skills to perform a fully<br />
costumed, technically complete musical<br />
production.<br />
Prerequisite: THR 130<br />

THR 218 Theatre Laboratory II 2 cr.<br />
THR 219 Theatre Laboratory III 3 cr.<br />
These courses cover theatre production under<br />
supervised, laboratory conditions for advanced<br />
