Radiography<br />

Associate of Applied <strong>Science</strong>, (AAS.RAD)<br />

This program prepares students for entry into careers as General Education Courses † Credits<br />

Radiologic Technologists (RT). A Radiologic Technologist is Written & Oral Communications<br />

responsible for the production of recorded radiographs. This (ENG 101 and SPE 102 required) 6<br />

is a full-time day program which begins each summer Mathematics (MTH 107 required) 3<br />

semester and lasts six consecutive semesters (24 months). Natural <strong>Science</strong> (BIO 110/111 required) 4<br />

The program consists of both an academic and clinical Social <strong>Science</strong> (PSY 101 required) 3<br />

Information Seminar, which is held periodically throughout RAD 123 Clinical Procedures III 6<br />

the year. A Radiography program application must be RAD 130 Radiographic Exposure I 3<br />

submitted and the applicant must meet specific criteria for RAD 224 Clinical Procedures IV 6<br />

admission. These application forms are available in the RAD 225 Clinical Procedures V 5<br />

Nursing or Radiography program office.<br />

Students admitted must be CPR certified (for health care<br />

RAD 230 Equipment Operation and Maintenance 4<br />

professionals), complete a satisfactory physical examination Total 48<br />

indicating they can perform the rigorous program activities,<br />

undergo a criminal history background check and drug<br />

screening, and maintain malpractice/liability insurance<br />

and personal health insurance throughout the program.<br />

Radiography students are responsible for their own<br />

transportation to clinical sites.<br />

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the<br />

examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic<br />

Technologists and/or the state licensing examination.<br />
