The magma serves a lavawightas searing “flesh” and does not hamper its movementin any way. Huge shards of razor-sharp, glowingobsidian depend from each finger, serving as claws. Onlythe skull of a lavawight is free of magma; there, a coronaof white flame burns like a crown.Lavawights are created from the remains of victimsslain by shapes of fire.Lavawights speak Common and Infernal.COMBATLavawights like to use their claws and skull butt on foes, attempting to set them on blazefire.Rend (Ex): If the lavawight hits with both of its claws,it latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an additional 6d8+31points of damage.Blazefire (Su): Living creatures taking damage froma lavawight’s attack find themselves ignited with blazefire;white-hot, lambent flames cascade over theirbodies, and they must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC35) or permanently lose 4 hit points. The opponent mustcontinue to save every round for the next 6 rounds (7rounds total) to avoid being permanently drained of 4more hit points each round. The lavawight heals thesame amount of damage whenever a creature is drainedof hit points, gaining any excess as temporary hitpoints. If an opponent is slain by blazefire, onlyblackened ash remains of the victim.Hit points lost to the blazefire never heal naturallyand cannot be magically restored—theyare gone for good. The temporary hit pointsgained by the lavawight’s blazefire lastmaximum of 1 hour.Spell-Like Abilities: At willdimensiondoor, flame arrow, spell immunity(sleet storm), fireball, wall of fire. All creaturesof the fire subtype in the field(including the lavawight) are treated as ifhaving turn resistance +6 (if undead) andfast healing 10. Creatures subject to firedamage take 2d10 points of fire damageeach round they remain withinthe heat aura.Fire Subtype: Fire immunity, double damage fromcold except on a successful save.Fiery Hardness (Ex): The lavawight’s molten skinprovides it with damage reduction of 10/–. The lavawight’sstandard damage reduction does not stack, butoverlaps with this fiery hardness damage reduction. However, even when its standard damage reduction doesnot apply, the 10/– does.200
