This does notstack with damage reduction granted by magic items ornonpermanent magical effects, but it does stack withany damage reduction granted by permanent magicaleffects, class features, the Damage Reduction feat, andthis ability itself. The damage reduction improves by 3points every five levels thereafter (9th. 14th, 19th, andso on).Bonus Feats: The legendary dreadnought gets abonus feat at 5th level and an additional bonus featevery five levels thereafter (at 10th, 15th, 20th, and soon). She has transcended the extraordinary, honing her talents to supernatural levels. She can bypassany protection and slip through any defense. Few see hercoming, and she does not leave evidence of her passing. She quite literally is a shadow in the night.Only the sneakiest and stealthiest of characters canbecome a perfect wight, so rogues are the most likely candidates.Assassins sometimes enhance their own skills byspending some time as a perfect wight, although the perfectwight's focus on stealth and evasion comes at theexpense of some offensive abilities. Few other classesever excel at the talents necessary to become perfectwights, although the occasional sorcerer or wizard mightfind herself in a position to do so.Perfect wights are true thieves, cat burglars in theextreme. They have heightened the art of breaking andentering to a new level, and they consider it an excitingchallenge to test their mettle against the best security tomultiverse has to offer. Most operate solo, although somemay work with a group or perhaps use their talents to aidin protecting rather than stealing.Hit Die: d6.RequirementsTo qualify to become a perfect wight, a character mustfulfill all the following criteria.Skills: Hide 24 ranks, Move Silently 24 ranks.Epic Feats: Self-Concealment.Special: Sneak attack +10d6.Class SkillsThe perfect wight's class skills (and the key ability foreach skill) are Appraise (Int), Balance (Dex), Bluff (Cha),Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Disable Device (Int), Diplomacy(Cha), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), GatherInformation (Cha), Hide (Dex), Innuendo (Wis), IntuitDirection (Wis), Jump (Str), Knowledge (any) (Int),Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Open Lock (Dex),Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Tumble (Dex), and Use Rope(Dex). See Chapter 4: Skills in the Player's Handbook forskill descriptions.Skill Points at Each Level: 8 + Int modifier.Class FeaturesThe following are class features of the perfect wight prestigeclass.Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A perfect wightgains no proficiency with any weapons, armor, or shields.Improved Invisibility (Su): Starting at 1st level, theperfect wight gains the benefit of improved invisibility onceper day, plus one additional time per day every five levelsthereafter (6th, 11th, 16th, and so on). The improved invisibilityis as the spell cast by a 20th-level caster.Improved Legerdemain (Su): A perfect wight canperform the following class skills at a range of 30 feet:Disable Device, Open Lock, Pick Pocket, and Search. Ifdesired, the perfect wight can take 10 on the check. Anyobject manipulated during the skill check must weigh100 pounds or less. Alternatively, the perfect wight canuse improved legerdemain to make one melee sneakattack against any creature within 30 feet. The perfectwight executes the sneak attack (or death attack, if applicable)as if attacking from a flanking position. If theattack is successful, the victim is dealt the appropriatesneak attack damage despite the fact that the perfectwight and her weapon do not physically cross the interveningdistance. A perfect wight can use improved legerdemainonce per day at 2nd level, plus one additionaltime per day every five levels thereafter (7th, 12th, 17th,and so on).Incorporeal (Su): At 3rd level, the perfect wight canbecome incorporeal once per day, plus one additionaltime per day every five levels thereafter (8th, 13th,18th, and so on). A perfect wight can remain incorporeal34

As an incorporeal creature, the perfect wight canbe harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, +1 orbetter magic weapons, and spells, spell-like abilities, andsupernatural abilities. She is immune to all nonmagicalattack forms. Even when hit by spells or magic weapons, the perfect wight has a 50% chance to ignore anydamage from a corporeal source (except for force effects, such as magic missile, or attacks made with ghost touchweapons). An incorporeal perfect wight has no naturalarmor but has a deflection bonus equal to her Charismamodifier (always at least +1,even if her Charisma scoredoes not normally providea bonus). An incorporeal perfectwight can pass throughsolid objects at will, but notforce effects. Her attackpasses through (ignores)natural armor, armor, andshields, although deflectionbonuses and forceeffects (such as mage armor)work normally against it.An incorporeal perfectwight moves silently andcannot be heard with Listenchecks if she doesn't wishto be. While incorporeal, the perfect wight has noStrength score, so her Dexteritymodifier applies toboth her melee and herranged attacks.Shadow Form (Su): At4th level, the perfect wightcan take shadow form onceper day, plus one additionaltime per day every fivelevels thereafter (9th, 14th,19th, and so on). The perfectwight's shadow form lasts 1minute per level of the prestigeclass. The shadow formis the ultimate expression of the perfect wight's power. She is incorporeal (see above), she is immune to criticalhits, and she can fly at a speed of 100 feet (good). The perfect wight can also use the substance of herown shadow to enhance her effective level on anyattack roll, check, or saving throw. Drawing powerfrom her own shadow form deals the perfect wight 7points of damage for each + 1 bonus on a single roll or+1 effective level for any other single use. For example,a perfect wight could add a +5 bonus on her next attackroll or saving throw, but in doing so she takes 35 pointsof damage.Bonus Feats: The perfect wight gets a bonus feat at5th level and an additional bonus feat every five levelsthereafter (10th, 15th, 20th, and so on). These bonusfeats must be selected from the following list: BlindingSpeed, Combat Archery, Dexterous Fortitude, DexterousWill, Epic Dodge, Epic Reputation, Epic SkillFocus, Epic Speed, Improved Combat Reflexes,Improved Sneak Attack, Legendary Climber, LingeringDamage, Self-Concealment, Sneak Attack of Opportunity,Spellcasting Harrier, Superior Initiative, TrapSense, Uncanny Accuracy.UNION SENTINELA Union Sentinel is a member of an elitepolice force that guards the demiplanecityof Union (see Chapter 6). Union Sentinelspatrol the city streets, enforcing thelaws of Union and ensuring that peacereigns supreme. A Union Sentinel istrained to capture lawbreakers andimprison them for trial rather thankilling them. A Union Sentineluses lethal force only as a lastresort, or he calls in higher beingsto aid him when his own powerproves ineffective.Union Sentinels often comefrom fighter, ranger, or clericbackgrounds, and paladins occasionallytake up the mantle ofunion sentinel, too. Rogues andmonks occasionally have enoughbattle prowess to serve as UnionSentinels, but druids, sorcerers, wizards, and barbarians lack eitherthe raw fighting skill or thediscipline necessary to servein Union.Union Sentinels areregular sights in Union, appearing in small unitsof two to five. They arestoically true to the law, serving the mercanes thatrun the city with unswervingloyalty. Off-duty UnionCHAPTER 1:CHARACTERS,SKILLS & FEATS35
