The only discerniblefeature of a shadow of the void is its twoblue, piercing eyes. Shadows of the void are usuallyfound far from the Material Plane, sometimesaccompanied by a winterwight or two.The creatures known as winterwights were originallycreated by shadows of the void, though winterwightshave also been created artificially by powerfuldemiliches. Whenever a shadow of the void discoversan artificially created winterwight, the shadowattempts to slay it.CombatShadows of the void prefer to close with their opponentsbecause of their deadly blightfire.Blightfire (Su): Living creatures taking damagefrom a shadow of the void’s incorporeal touch attackfind themselves ignited with blightfire; cold, blackflames cascade over their bodies, and they must succeedat a Fort save (DC 37) or permanently lose 6 points ofConstitution. The opponent must continue to saveevery round for the next 6 rounds (7 rounds total) toavoid being permanently drained of 6 more Con points. The creature heals 30 points of damage whenever itdrains 6 points of Constitution, gaining any excess astemporary hit points. If the opponent is slain by blightfire, only icy fragments of the victim remain, until theyreform as a winterwight. The temporary hit points gained bythe shadow of the void’s blazefire last maximum of 1 hour.Create Spawn (Su): Any humanoid slain by a shadowof the void becomes a winterwight in 1d4 rounds.Winterwights are under the command of the shadow ofthe void that created them and remain enslaved until itsdeath. They do not possess any of the abilities they had inlife, though they do possess general knowledge of the slaincreature. This knowledge is used for evil purposes, if possible.Spell-Like Abilities: 3/day—deeper darkness,Otiluke’s freezing sphere.
