365TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEEConcerning our declaration 135 there are in existencelying rumours which are deliberately being circulated by theGolosist liquidators and which we consider it our duty tocounter by a short account of the essentials of the matterand our views.The formal aspect of the matter is that an agreementbetween the faction and the Party was concluded at the plenumof January 1910. According to the agreement, our factionundertook to dissolve itself if the other factions dissolvedthemselves. The condition was not observed. We resume ourfreedom of struggle against the liberals and anarchists, whoare being encouraged by the leader of the “conciliators”,Trotsky. The question of the money is for us a secondarymatter, although of course we do not intend to hand over themoney of the faction to the bloc of liquidators$anarchists$Trotsky, while in no way renouncing our right to exposebefore the international Social-Democratic movement thisbloc, its financial “basis” (the notorious Vperyodist “funds”safeguarded from exposure by Trotsky and the Golosists),etc.*The essential fact is that we divest ourselves of responsibilityfor the assistance in demoralising the Party rendered bythe “conciliatory” policy (i.e., the policy indulgent to theGolosist liberals and Vperyodist anarchists). We warned* The right to represent the faction was given to our sextet at theplenum. Of the six votes we have four: three in Paris and one by Meshkovsky’s(written) power of attorney. If Meshkovsky were to takeit into his head to back out, we should interrogate the remainingBolshevik members of the Central Committee and candidate memberselected in London, and also interrogate the Bolsheviks who have declaredthemselves by influential work.
