TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE367less struggle against the bloc. It stands to reason that weshall in every way support all steps of the Central Committeeif it succeeds in meeting in Russia, restoring the Centralapparatus there, establishing a Party organisational baseabroad (instead of the liquidationist C.C. Bureau Abroad)and beginning work against the liberals and anarchists. Finally, a few words about the split with which the “conciliators”are trying to frighten us. At present the split defacto is already complete, for the Potresovites and Vperyodistshave completely split off and no one will bring them backto the Party line. If the Central Committee emphaticallycondemns them as liberals and anarchists, there will be nosplit de jure, for they cannot defend their line. If the centralbodies cease to play at “inviting” the liberals who are servantsof Potresov (the Golosists) and the Vperyodists, therewill be no split de jure, and the workers will definitely abandonboth the Vperyodists and the Potresovites. Any otherpolicy will prolong the split by encouraging the Potresovitesand Vperyodists. As far as we are concerned, we shall keepentirely aloof from any such “other” policy, as authorisedrepresentatives of the Bolshevik trend, whose guiding significancewas recognised by the plenum of January 1910.The representatives of the Bolshevik trend who signed theagreement with the Central Committee at the plenum andwho are authorised (by Meshkovsky’s power of attorney) tocancel it.Written after January 22(February 4), 1911First published in 1933in Lenin Miscellany XXVPublished according tothe manuscript
